Not related to meeting, but I was wondering if anybody knew if our neighborhood had any teenagers who make themselves available for hire when the time comes to shovel snow this winter. I've heard it's gonna be a doozy this year, and we just aren't healthy enough to do what we did 3 or 4 years ago with all that snow.

Adel and I both support an addition to the Reed School. We have two children which will be bussed to Tuckahoe and potentially be housed in trailers. The Reed School is within our neighborhood, within walking distance and an appropriate place for a neighborhood elementary school. Perhaps we don't have all of the details, but we don't understand how this school was re-built to house APS teachers' pre-school children, many of whom don't live in nor pay towards Arlington's tax system.
Also, I was instructed that during the day, should a parent happen to be home and have the great opportunity to bring their child to play on the playground adjacent to the Reed School, I was told by an employee of the school that "we" being residents of the neighborhood---tax-paying residents, are not allowed to play and use the playground equipment while pre-school is in session.
I was not about to tell my 3 yo that we needed to leave when she was so enjoying herself. Thus, we stayed much to the disgruntlement of the staff. Not quite seeing "THE Arlington Way" demonstrated here.

I know that the due date has passed, but I wanted to say that Eugene and I agree with your position. We need Green space in our neighborhood. There is no reason to have a elementary school on this site.

[...] Goblins, Ghouls and Politicians in Westover — On Saturday afternoon, the Westover neighborhood will host its own version of a candidates forum. But instead of speeches and debate, the candidates are instead invited to hang out at the Westover beer garden (5863 N. Washington Blvd) and meet and greet votes. The candidate event will take place between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., and will be followed by the annual Westover Halloween Parade. [TLHCA Blog] [...]

About a year ago, I contacted the county about my concerns with the hospital entrance. On several occasions, I have had to wait at least 1 traffic light cycle to turn left into the hospital due to north bound traffic on George Mason Drive. This is especially trying when you have an injured or ill person in the car and you're trying to safely and quickly get to the emergency room

The crosswalk at George Mason Drive and N. 22nd Street (near George Mason Post Office) needs to be moved and re-striped. The crosswalk should be moved north or south so that it intersects the grassy median to provide a safe refuge/island for pedestrians trying to cross this busy 4-lane speedway. At rush hour especially, but at all times of the day, cars speed in both directions on George Mason Drive. Due to the angles of the road surfaces, the existing crosswalk is not visible to drivers as they approach it, thus they have no signal that they need to slow down. I cross this intersection several times a week, and often I have to run to avoid being hit.

Would love to participate! The website says each civic association needs a leader to put in the tree requests for their neighborhood. Is there anyone handling this for tara leeway heights? Would be happy to volunteer if not. It would be a shame not to take advantage of this offer.
