Redeveloping near East Falls Church Metro station

The Task Force has spent three years reviewing ideas and concepts with County staff for redeveloping sites near the East Falls Church Metrorail station, including the Park & Ride and Kiss & Ride parcels. The Task Force also has examined current traffic patterns and possible future transportation impacts, based on potential development anticipated in the plan.

Mixed-use development recommended

The plan recommends new residential, office and mixed-use development near the Metrorail station, in addition to transportation improvements to make it easier to ride or bike across I-66, and improved access to the station.

The planning study has been undertaken with cooperation from the City of Falls Church, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

For more information, visit the East Falls Church Planning Study website or call the Planning Division at 703-228-3525. The task force contact is Mike Nardolilii, the task force chairman, at (703) 536-4058.

Arlington, Va., is a world-class residential, business and tourist location that was originally part of the “10 miles square” parcel of land surveyed in 1791 to be the Nation’s Capital. It is the geographically smallest self-governing county in the United States, occupying slightly less than 26 square miles. Arlington maintains a rich variety of stable neighborhoods, quality schools and enlightened land use, and received the Environmental Protection Agency’s highest award for “Smart Growth” in 2002. Home to some of the most influential organizations in the world – including the Pentagon – Arlington stands out as one of America’s preeminent places to live, visit and do business.
