Big Walnut Park development options to be discussed Nov 16

November 4th, 2009 Posted in News

Funding for improvements to the upper part of Big Walnut Park, located near the top of the hill on Harrison Street, has been secured.   In the October TLH Civic Assocation meeting, representatives from Arlington County presented ideas on possible ways the park could be developed.   Most of the ideas suggested by the county were well received, but two questions remain unanswered at this time:

  1. What age group is this park intended to serve?
  2. Should the park have equipment better suited for tots (ages 2-5) or for older, school-aged kids?

In the November CA meeting, residents will meet to discuss and decide on the final form of the park.  To help us in our discussion, attached please find three pictures of park equipment selected to be useful to the different age groups, and a draft design for the park layout.  Please look at the different types of play equipment, and come with ideas on the ages the park should serve and how best it can do that.

The meeting will be held at 7 pm on Monday, November 16, in room 108 (the Head Start Room) of the Langston Brown Community Center (2121 Culpeper Street, near the corner of Lee Highway and Culpeper Street).
