April 8th, 2008 Posted in Neighborhood Projects

Arlington County’s Department of Parks Recreation and Cultural Resources, Parks and Natural Resources Division is offering 1,200 trees to be distributed among Arlington’s civic associations and other community groups for Neighborhood Day, May 10, 2008.

As in previous years, Arlington is offering two types of tree species: the Yellow-Poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera), a large canopy tree and the Allegheny Serviceberry (Amenlanchier laevis), a small flowering tree. The tree “whips” should range in height from three to five feet and will come in one or two-gallon containers. Instructions for planting and general care and maintenance procedures will be provided with each tree.

If interested in placing an order, please email Bridget Collins (bhartc@aol.com) no later than Thursday, April 17th. Trees will be delivered and available for pick up at 1444 N. Inglewood Street (driveway of Bridget Collins) no later than Saturday, May 10th. You will receive a confirmation by email of your order as well as pick up date and time the week of May 5th.
