Burglary increases in the First District

February 5th, 2007 Posted in Police Notices

This information is from the Arlington County Police Department.

During the past few months there appears to be a pattern developing with residential burglaries along the western end of the Route 50 corridor. This is happening both north and south of Route 50 and possibly as far as eight blocks north of Route 50. Entry seems to be mostly from breaking the read doors or windows. In only one case the front door was kicked in. The most common items taken have been electronic equipment, jewelry and cash. No one has seen or reported seeing a suspect(s) in any of the burglaries. Police officers have collected some physical evidence and Detective Roger Estes has been working the cases. If anyone has information related to the burglaries you can contact Detective Estes at 703-228-4180, or email : Restes@arlingtonva.us

Arlington police ask your help in getting the word out to your neighbors in an effort to protect you and your neighbors, and catch the suspect(s). They also suggest:

  • * Immediately report suspicious persons in your neighborhood, especially if they are seen in the backyards. Call the police (703) 558-2222.
  • * Secure your home. If you have an alarm system, activate it even during the day.
  • *
Watch your neighbors home and ask them to keep an eye on your home.
  • *
If you think you are observing a burglary in progress call 911.
