Message from Arlington Police regarding New Year’s Eve stabbing
January 1st, 2006 Posted in Police Notices
On Saturday, Dec. 31, at approximately 8:35 p.m., a 25-year-old man was stabbed in front of his house on the 5100 block of N. 25th St. It appears that the victim was attacked just after parking his car and suffered serious knife wounds. Officers were at the scene within minutes and searched the neighborhood for anything or anyone connected to this crime. This search included a door-to-door canvass of the surrounding homes in hopes of locating witnesses. At this time, no arrests have been made and the Police Department is seeking any information about this incident. The motive of the attack is unknown and detectives are working to gather more information. Anyone who knows about or may have seen anything related to this crime is asked to call the Police Department’s tip line at 703-228-4242 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
We have received several questions asking if this crime is related to any other crimes in the area. At this time, we have no reason to believe that it is. There have been no other similar attacks, either in the George Mason/Lee Hwy area or anywhere else in the County. Therefore, it appears that this was an isolated, although certainly alarming, incident.
If you have additional questions, please call 703-228-4050.

UPDATE: The Washington Post ran a piece last week suggesting a link between this attack and several murders in Richmond. Two suspects believed to be responsible for all the attacks are in custody.
