ARTFEST WEEK AT FT. C. F. SMITH
March 31 – April 7, 2006
The Arlington Artists Alliance is proud to feature a week of art at Fort C. F. Smith Park, March 31 – April 7. In addition to the week-long all-media art show and sale, there will be entertainment, workshops, and demonstrations for adults and children. The Alliance is made up of local fine artists living in Arlington County. Browse and shop for fine art suitable for home, office, and gifts. All events are open to the public. Workshops and demos require reservations; fees apply to some.

The park is located at 2411 N. 24th Street (From Lorcom Lane towards Spout Run Parkway, left on Filmore Street, first right onto 24th Street. Ft. C. F. Smith is on the left.) and features the Historic Hendry House.
FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 6 – 8PM. Meet the exhibiting artists at the Opening Reception. Free. Refreshments.
SATURDAY, APRIL 1. ART SHOW OPEN: 10AM-5PM. Free family-friendly entertainment: 12noon, Tbonemanbill, New Orleans One Man Band; 2:30, Compass Rose, harp-accordion-percussion trio.
SUNDAY, APRIL 2. ART SHOW OPEN: 12NOON-5PM. Star Dust Dance Band, 2:30pm, free. Family Workshop: HANDMADE BOOKS, 3 – 5pm. Family workshop for an adult and child (age 8 and up) team . Fee: $26.50 per team, $16.50 for each additional sibling. Reservations required.
MONDAY, APRIL 3. ART SHOW OPEN: 9AM-1PM. Adult Workshop: PLEIN AIR PAINT OUT, 10am-12:30pm, Rain date: Tuesday, April 20, 10am-12:30pm. Join members of the Arlington Artists Alliance for an out-of-doors paint out! Free.
TUESDAY, APRIL 4. ART SHOW OPEN 9:30AM-12:30PM. Adult Workshop: CREATING REALISTIC TEXTURE, 10am-12noon. Jane McElvany Coonce will offer an ?interactive demonstration? on how to create the illusion of wood in your paintings or as a faux finish in your home. Questions? Call Jane at (703) 524-7049. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 5. ART SHOW OPEN 2:30PM-5:30PM. Children?s Workshop: POUR AND PAINT, 3-5pm. Ages 9 to 12. All supplies provided. Min: 3. Max: 10. Fee: $25. Reservations required.
THURSDAY, APRIL 6. ART SHOW OPEN: 12:30PM-3:30PM. Adult Workshop: PAINTING ON YUPO, 1-3pm. Secrets from Laura Lemley and George James for painting with water media on Yupo, the synthetic ?paper.?
