Update on Westover Library Project

John Miller, Chair of the Westover Project Planning Team sent the following update:Most of the work on this project is now at the stage where the final details of its implementation are being settled. No big topics left for discussion, and thus no community or Project Planning Team meetings. I did want to reassure everyone that the work continues to progress, and to convey to you the details of that progress.

First, the website has an update. Note that there is a Transportation Committee meeting listed on that update for March 3, 2005. There is a link on the website for the agenda for this meeting, but I have also attached it to this email [see links below].

Second, I have attached a current, detailed explanation of the status of the project. I would appreciate that you share this information with your neighbors, and that those who are involved with their civic associations share this with whoever is responsible for newsletters or civic association websites, so that the information can be as widely disseminated as possible.

Finally, in an effort to achieve emeritus status as citizen-Chair of the Project Planning Team for Westover, I would like to ask a favor from as many of you as possible. This project has garnered strong support from citizens in the Westover area, with the discussions focusing on the details of the project, not whether a new library is a good idea. Well, we’re close to achieving that objective, but due to the nature of planning, the project is now not a high-profile item. I am very interested in seeing that it is not further delayed than has thus far been necessary, and that the County Board clearly understand that this is a priority to the community. I will be sending a letter, making that representation, to the County Board, but I want to ensure that it is not just me speaking. If you will, please take the time to communicate your wishes as to this project to the County Board and the County Manager.
