The draft report has been prepared and presented to a joint Maryland and COG Advisory Committee. There will be two opportunities for additional comment on the study on May 11, 2005.Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Committee on Noise Abatement and Aviation at National and DullesAirports will sponsor a public meeting on the Regional Helicopter System Plan for the Metropolitan Washington Area.
Helicopters are used on a daily basis by both public and privateagencies to perform a variety of missions throughout the Metropolitan Washington region. In
order to document these current helicopter operations, and to determine how they are affecting the region today and may do so in the future, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) sponsored a regional helicopter system plan study. The draft report has been prepared and presented to a joint Maryland and COG Advisory Committee.
Two opportunities for public comment on the study conclusions are scheduled for May 11, 2005. A midday meeting will be hosted by the COG and held in their
meeting rooms in the District. An evening meeting will be hosted by the Aurora Highlands Civic Associationand held at the Aurora Hills Recreation Center in Arlington.
